Apr. 11th - The Day I Found A Surprise In The Back Yard 🎉

Thankfully it wasn't the slithering kind!!

And before you ask...yes we have snakes in our neighborhood! There have been rattle snakes, copperheads, and coral snakes found in yards and houses throughout the neighborhood. Thankfully none at our house so far...I'd have to burn the house down if I found a snake in it (after I got our critters out first of course)! Hence the reason I rarely venture very far from the back patio, but this morning I made an exception and wandered out to the back fence line. The reason for venturing away from the safety of the patio (where snakes are easily seen...not like in the grass!) was to check on a pot of irises I have tucked away in the far corner of the back yard. For the record, this pot of irises is not the same as the Hubs grandmother's irises...these irises were given to me by a neighbor after he dug them up in order to re-sod his back yard prior to selling his house. They have been in the same pot for close to two years and I have yet to see a single iris bloom. In all honesty, after the winter apocalypse of 2021 I really didn't think they would still be alive. I had some time on my hands this morning as I was waiting for the Hubs to finish getting ready for church, so I decided I'd wander out there and see if indeed any of the irises had survived. While a great many of them did not, I was pleasantly surprised to see some had indeed survived...not only had they survived, but there was even a big, gorgeous purple bloom hiding amongst the surviving plants! Nature always proves to be so resilient, a fact proven by a lovely iris bloom that brought a smile to my face this morning. I hope nature has provided you a lovely flower bloom to bring a smile to your face as well.

Blessings, Candi 💕
