I'm sorry...I meant scaredy dog!

My first order of business for today's post is to apologize for not posting yesterday. I let time get away from me and didn't get a post written, and for that I am truly sorry. I had begun to form the premise of a post, but let myself get distracted, so I will share yesterday's post with you today. I normally try to avoid reading the news (especially the national news), but occasionally I receive an alert from one of our local stations that catches my eye, and curiosity gets the better of me. Yesterday morning I received just such an alert. We have had numerous thunder storms moving through Central Texas for the past few days, and it would seem said storms had an extremely adverse affect on a German Shepherd named Booger (what an unfortunate choice of names...why would you choose the name Booger for your pet?!), it would seem Booger (pictured left) was so desperate to find shelter from the storms he somehow managed to entangle himself in the undercarriage of his hooman's pickup. In what can only be considered an extremely fortunate turn of events, Booger's hooman spotted his tail sticking out from under the pickup before getting in to drive away. Not being able to remove Booger on his own, his hooman was forced to call local emergency services to aide in safely removing Booger from the pickup's undercarriage. Thankfully, the combined efforts of local police and fire personnel were successful in safely extracting Booger from underneath the pickup. Reading Booger's story touched me for two reasons. First, the compassion shown to both Booger and his hooman by the local emergency services made my heart feel lighter...it was nice to see there are still those out there who are willing to come to the aide of both man and man's best friend when needed. Second, I was reminded of my gentle big boy Buddy (pictured right) who was also terrified of thunderstorms, and in the case of the attached picture Fourth of July fireworks...the reason he felt inclined to squeeze his ninety pound self into an opening not large enough to accommodate him! Buddy passed away eighteen months ago and not a day goes by that I don't miss him...he was truly one of the most gentle souls I have ever known, and recalling the memory of that particular day made it feel like he was still squeezed in there right next to me. If you'd like to read Booger's full story just click here: https://www.kwtx.com/app/2021/04/16/texas-police-pull-german-shepherd-named-booger-from-pickups-undercarriage/ . I hope Booger's story brings a smile to your face like it did mine.

Blessings, Candi 💕
